OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

1. Following these maintenance and operating instructions is particularly important for proper operation of the awning. In addition, this can significantly extend the service life. These regulations are also decisive in evaluating any warranty claims.
2. It is recommended that the blinds be inspected once a year for function and damage.
3. Blinds are designed to block incident light at windows. Among other things, this means that the blinds are not intended for use during weather conditions such as hail, snow, frost and strong winds. The blinds should be raised when the maximum wind load is reached. See below.

Articulation: 4Bft (5.5m/s)
Drop-off screen: 5Bft (8m/s)
Screen: 5Bft (8m/s)
Ritz or Solidscreen: 8Bft (17.1m/s)

4. Hinged, rotating points and the side guides may be injected with a, silicone and grease-free, lubricant. With an electric control, the motor should never be lubricated.
5. When reporting a failure, the following information is important:

  • The project number and name of the work as indicated on the warranty statement.
  • The type of blinds.
  • The nature of the failure.
  • The siting of the failure, i.e. the mounting height, floor, etcetera.
  • The possible presence of a window cleaning system or other scaffolding equipment.
  • Site contact.

Operation:
Always check when opening and closing:

  • Whether there are any objects or situations that could impede the opening of the blinds
  • Whether there are no obstacles under the blinds
  • Whether no persons are in the vicinity of the blinds
  • Whether abnormal resistance occurs during operation. The premise is that the operation is smooth.

Manual blinds:

  • Expandable pendulum rod. When turning the pendulum, one should stand directly opposite the fitting, while the rod makes an angle of about 300. This prevents the transit hardware from being overloaded.
  • Fixed pendulum rod. Always keep the fixed crank rod in line with the control axis of the awning. Make sure the fabric unrolls and rolls up along the correct side (top or bottom).
  • Cord or strap. The controls should be perpendicular to the wall. When raising the awning, the cord or strap should be held to the end to prevent the awning from sinking again.
  • With a drop-down or articulated awning, the fabric should always be under tension.

Electric blinds:

  • With electric operation, by means of a tubular motor, the blinds are raised and lowered by operating a switch. When not in use, the switch should automatically jump to the zero position
  • The tubular motor is suitable for an application where the blinds open or close at no more than 8, non-contiguous movements per 24 hours at intervals of at least 30 minutes. More frequent use of the drive can result in thermal shutdown of the motor. In that case, the drive will be operable again after about 30 minutes.
  • If the sun blinds are connected to an automatic, the automatic must be set to the values specified by Lenco Zonwering B.V. Due to factors such as location in the country, surrounding buildings, height difference, shape of the building, the wind speed measured at the wind collector may differ (significantly) from the actual wind speed at an individual awning. Consider wind shear, fall/rising winds, etc. The user must ensure that the maximum wind load is not exceeded at a sunshade. Automatic steering is merely an aid to ease of use and safety. In the event of a control failure, there can never be a claim for compensation.

Maintenance:

  • During maintenance and/or repair, the blinds should always be de-energized.
  • The blinds should be maintained and cleaned at least once a year, depending on the frequency of use and climatic conditions. See also item “j” in the warranty conditions.
  • The profiles that are soiled can be cleaned with lukewarm water and a cleaning product. You should make sure that the cleaning product is neutral (no alkaline, baking soda or acidic products). Also, do not use scouring pads and/or abrasive)
  • See the above point also for cleaning the cloth. However, avoid cleaning the canvas in full sunlight. The quick drying of soapy water can leave stains in the cloth.
  • Should the fabric get wet in an unexpected change of weather, feel free to close the awning and open it again at a later time (in sunny weather) and let the fabric dry. However, avoid having the cloth rolled up wet for a period longer than three days, as suffocation may occur.
